WHAT: Taiao Wānanga ki Taiporohēnui Marae
WHEN: 12 – 13 October 2019 – pōwhiri 10am Saturday, meet at 9.30am
WHERE: Taiporohēnui Marae, corner of Ohangai and Matangarara Roads, near Te Hāwera, South Taranaki
WHO: Organised by Te Whenua Tōmuri Trust for people interested in learning about kaitiakitanga
As part of our Maru Wai Matara project we run school holiday wānanga on kaitiakitanga taiao, working with kura, hapū and whānau in Taranaki. We have held wānanga around Mounga Taranaki and now we are excited to be going to Taiporohēnui Marae near Te Hāwera.
The theme this time is Kōanga (spring) so our noho will include a visit to Rotokare Sanctuary, river monitoring, permaculture design, maramataka, ahu whenua kōrero, mau rākau, yoga, raranga, karakia and waiata with activities for tamariki throughout (see programme below).
This is a wānanga for the whole whānau. Under 16s must come with a guardian. Please bring koha. (If your whānau needs assistance with getting to the marae, please get in touch and we will help where we can.) Let’s get outside and enjoy our natural environment. Register here now:
